Orla Strumble is Head of Marketing for the Irish Greyhound Board, who she has worked with for over five years.
Because I am a Girl I ask… my friends for advice – no matter how old I get I still value their opinions – some of whom I have been friends with since childhood. It really is true – a problem shared is a halved!
Because I am a Girl I believe… that there is some good in all people! I have had this theory challenged by some who have crossed my path but I do hope that when they return home to their own lives that a different side of them emerges.
Because I am a Girl I hope… that women all over the world have the power to be involved in decisions that affect their future.
Because I am a Girl I wonder… what the future holds. The current economic climate has made everyone take stock of what is important here and now! I think that we all realise that the simple things like family, friends and a safe world are more important than top of the range cars or fantastic holidays.
Because I am a Girl I dream… that young girls all over the world have the opportunities I have had and use every chance to better their lives and that of their families.
Because I am a Girl I remember… Christmases when I was young and the excitement on Christmas morning when my brothers, sister and I tried to get downstairs at 5.00 am past Dad, the security guard, and spoiler of fun to see if Santa had arrived. It never really mattered that Santa never quite got it right – it was the anticipation and the magic of that morning.
Because I am a Girl I like… nice things! It’s like the song says “I work for them I pay for them!”. No matter if it’s a “fat day” the shoes will always fit and every girl needs to feel good about themselves!
Because I am a Girl I dislike… people who undermine just to make them feel better about their role/job/position.
Because I am a Girl I feel… my mother gave me the best start in life! Not only was she there for me but she instilled in me that I could do anything if I put my mind to it. Since she passed away 5 years ago it’s her advice and encouragement that amongst the things I miss the most. It is true the mother is the heart of the home.
Because I am a Girl I… want to have a safe and happy life and never say I should have taken the chance and I didn’t!
