UN Zero Tolerance of FGM Day, 6th February
An estimated 140 million women and girls alive today have suffered Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). That’s 2 million girls a year – or 5,500 a day – are put through this excruciating and dangerous procedure.
Today, 6th February, marks the UN International Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM. Plan projects are helping to educate people about the dangers of FGM and discouraging them from passing on this harmful practice.
